Mohammad Hadi Tabatabaei Yazdi, born in the Netherlands in 1987. His educational voyage spanned continents—from Randwick Public School in Sydney, Australia, where he honed his passion for amateur astronomy, to Ferdowsi University of Mashhad, Iran, where he pursued a B.Sc. in physics.
Hadi’s continued with a master’s degree from Tehran University, delving into the captivating history of sciences, with a focus on medieval and Islamic astronomy and mathematics.
As a dedicated member of the Mashhad Astronomy Society for over two decades, Hadi wore multiple hats: head of education and outreach, lecturer at Mashhad’s astronomy club, and co-founder of an astronomy club for kids.
In collaboration with fellow enthusiasts, he birthed Engarium Planetarium at Ferdowsi University of Mashhad—a beacon for 35,000 annual visitors.
Hadi also co-founded Engareh Physics Cooperative. Their mission? To weave a network of science centers and planetariums across Iran and the region. Their canvas expanded to include the Kooshyar Gillani Science Center and Observatory in Rasht—spanning 10,000 square meters. Hadi is now CEO of Engareh Physics Coop.
Hadi’s path intertwines science, art, and education. He champions the astrolabe and sundials—a bridge between disciplines—and transforms it into an educational tool for students.
Hadi has been also a consultant for the Astan Quds Razavi Central Museum— documenting the collections for sundials, astrolabes, sextants, and telescopes. His program for gamified museum experiences engages young minds, turning visits into adventure.
